I'm an elementary school teacher during the school year and focus nearly all my enegry on my job. So from August to June... I'm really boring. I love being a teacher, but I enjoy the summer break. Let me rephrase that, I need the summer break to regain my sanity.
During the summer, I'm whoever I want to be! One of my favorite things to do during my two month vacation is to bake and cook. It all started with my love for baking cupcakes. I love putting on my super cute apron and using my kitchen to create and recreate recipes!
Growing up, my very busy, working mother never had the time or energy to teach my two sisters and I how to cook. My roommate in college was the first person to actually have the patience to allow me to be in the kitchen and learn from her. So from watching her make breakfast, lunch and dinner, to letting me actually flip the pancakes, I was given a confidence to cook for myself!
I decided to become a vegetarian in May of 2012. I know that wasn't that long ago, but it's never to late to try something new. Since my decision, I have felt really different. I can't explain the difference, but it's something I really really like and have a passion to continue this lifestyle.
I hope you enjoy my journey through finding out how to be a vegetarian. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns!
Until then... happy cooking!
Alison
